The film version of Maria Andrea Bestsellers leg Tannöd impresses with its terrible beauty
Two women walk through the forest. It dawns, it's dark, fog caressing the damp forest floor. The women are sisters. Traudl, the elder of the two brings her sister to the Dannerhof. It should work as a maid at the hated family of a Bavarian village. You will not survive the night ....
An act, committed in the frenzy. A family of six in a Bavarian backwater was wiped out by force, the villagers are faced with a puzzle.
Two years later, enters the young Kathleen, whose mother died recently in the village that hides a dark secret. Kathi accompanies the viewer through the film. She is the passive protagonist listens to and watches. It is absent in the book, which consists mainly of a mosaic of different statements of the villagers and is composed of mysterious flashbacks to the family Danner.

The film captures the eerie atmosphere of the book very well. Understandably the film left some freedoms, as this book is probably difficult to realize on film. Nevertheless, the film tries to get very few elements of the book. The statements of the villagers come to light, as it is to the wake einfindet.
The end of the film is rather aprupt and confusing. The spectator who has read the book, just before the expected resolution, namely the confession (probably the confession) of the killer alone.
